Windows Media Player Description

Windows media player is the evolutionary multimedia player from Microsoft renowned for its stability, ease of use, sleek user interface and support for a wide range of multimedia formats.

November of 1992 Microsoft introduced a media player named Video for Windows and it was available as a free add-on for the Windows 3.1 OS and later bundled into Windows 95 and NT 4.0. Around 1996 Video for Windows was rebranded to Windows Media Player following the introduction of the DirectShow codec which greatly improved the media player
